Development of industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan for January-September of 2017

 

Non-oil sector: As to the same period of the previous year increased by 2.5% to AZN 31 327,2 million (62.6% of the value added).

Oil sector: As to the same period of the previous year decreased by 6,5% to AZN 18 740,1 million (37.4% of the value added).

Non-oil sector of the industry (value added): grew by 3.7% as for the corresponding period of 2016 and amounted to AZN 2 170,3 million.

Industry (total output): Amounted to AZN 28 329,4 million.

Oil sector of the industry (total output): Amounted to AZN 21 625,2 million.

Non-oil sector of the industry (total output): augmented by 3.1% as to the relevant period of the previous year and totaled to AZN 6 704,2 million.

The fixed capital in the industry:  The volume of fixed capital directed to the industry amounted to AZN 11 090,8 million.

The fixed capital in the non-oil sector of the industry: The volume of fixed capital directed to the non-oil sector of the industry developed by 2,1 times into AZN 834,3 million in comparison with the same period of the last year.

37.4% of the value added (18 740.1 million manat) was produced in the oil sector. In the non-oil sector 62.6% of the value added (31 327.2 million manat) was produced, production increased by 2.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In January-September of the current year, AZN 20 110.0 million value added was produced in the industry sector, which constituted 40.2% of the gross domestic product.

70.2% of the industrial product was produced in the mining sector, 24.6% in the processing, 4.4% in the electricity, gas and steam production, distribution and supply, and 0.8% in the water supply, waste treatment and processing.

In the structure of production in January-September, the sub-sectors with the highest specific weight were food products (35.1%), oil products (28.2%), construction materials production (5,9%), chemical industry (5.3%), metallurgy industry (4,4%), construction and repair of machinery and equipment (4,3%), beverage production (2,8%), rubber and plastic products (2,4%), production of machines and equipments (1,7%), finished metal products (1,6%), weaving industry (1,5%), electrical equipments (1,4%), while the share of other 12 sub-sectors was 5,5%.

Capital allocated to fixed capital

87.9% of the funds directed to fixed capital in the industry was allocated to mining industry, 2.9% - processing industry, 4.4% - electricity, gas and steam production, distribution and supply, 4,8% - water supply,  waste treatment and processing industry.

Number of employees in industry and average Wage *

Over January-September of 2017, the number of employees employed in the country's industrial sector amounted to 193thousand, with their average monthly nominal wage increasing by 11.5% to AZN 974.

33.8 thousand of employees are concentrated in mining industry, 101.2 thousand in processing industry, 26.8 thousand in the electricity, gas and steam production, distribution and supply, 31.2 thousand in water supply, waste treatment and processing subsectors.
