Beijing hosted Azerbaijani-Chinese business forum
The Azerbaijani-Chinese business forum was held in Beijing on February 6, within the framework of the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation comprising of officials and businessmen led by the minister of economy Shahin Mustafayev to China. The event, organized in tandem with AZPROMO, Ministry of Commerce of China and Promotion of International Trade Council of China, brought together businessmen engaged in industry, construction, transport, logistics, investment, chemistry, textiles and other fields.
Speaking at the business forum, the minister of economy Shahin Mustafayev stressed that Azerbaijan attached great importance to the development of relations with China and interested in expanding cooperation in all spheres. “The active political dialogue existing between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and China is a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations in economic, humanitarian and other spheres,” added the minister. Shahin Mustafayev mentioned that, enjoying the potential of the Trans-Caspian East-West Trade and Transit Corridor within the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative creates favorable conditions for boosting cooperation in the economic sphere, mainly, in the field of investment, trade and transit areas. Azerbaijan's trade turnover with China increased by 43% to 1.2 billion dollars in 2017. “Export to China increased by 2.1 times, and there is great potential for trade turnover augmentation. The launch of the Azerbaijani Trade Representative Office in Beijing will be important in raising the trade volume between the two countries and expanding investment cooperation,” further added the minister.
Besides, three export missions to China were organized in 2016 and 2017, and Azerbaijani products were demonstrated in "Made in Azerbaijan" country stand at two exhibitions held in China. Azerbaijan will take part in three other exhibitions to be held this year in China. Negotiations are underway to set off the "Azerbaijan Wine House" at Shanghai International Trade Operations Center. Moreover, there are great opportunities for Chinese businessmen to invest in non-oil sector of Azerbaijan. So far, 113 companies with Chinese investment in Azerbaijan have been registered, and these companies are involved in construction, industry, agriculture, communication, service, trade and other fields. The Minister Shahin Mustafayev gave information about the economy of Azerbaijan, reforms carried out in our country, and investment attractiveness of Azerbaijan.
Luo Veidong, the director general of the Department of Eurasian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, said that his country was interested in relations with Azerbaijan and interested in advancing cooperation with Azerbaijan. It was noted that our countries successfully cooperated in different spheres of economy and opportunities for the development of these relations were wide.
Also, the video presentation about the candidacy of Baku for the exhibition "EXPO-2025" was demonstrated at the event.
The executive director of "Azerbaijan Investment Company" OJSC Rovshan Najaf, the head of AZPROMO Rufat Mammadov and the representative of the State Property Committee Nurlan Verdiyev made presentations.
Thence bilateral meetings were held between businessmen.
The Azerbaijani company “AS Group Investment” and the “Camce Co Ltd” of China bounded an agreement on mutual cooperation within the framework of the business forum.
