Azerbaijan has moved forward in the Index of Economic Freedom 2021 report prepared by the Heritage Foundation, one of the world's largest think tanks. Advancing by 6 steps in the world rankings compared to the previous reporting year, our country has risen to 38th place among 178 countries, and in the regional ranking - to 23rd place among 45 countries, having risen by 1 position in the European region compared to the previous reporting year. At the same time, Azerbaijan scored 70.1 points in the report, which is above the world average (61.6 points) and equal to the average for the European region.
In the Global Competitiveness Index published by the World Economic Forum in 2019, Azerbaijan moved up 11 positions to 58th out of 141 countries. According to the latest release of the report, Azerbaijan is among the leading CIS countries, ahead of 8 out of 12 indicators. Our country also ranks first in the South Caucasus region in this report.
The Global Innovation Index report says that Azerbaijan has, compared to the previous reporting year, risen by 2 positions in the overall ranking to 80th out of 132 countries. In this report, Azerbaijan has been classified as an upper middle-income group economies for its innovative performance at various income levels.
