Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov within the framework of the visit.
Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized that he attaches particular importance to the successful development of bilateral relations between our countries. It was noted that our nations are united by friendly relations, common history, traditions, culture and values. The visits of the heads of state, the held high-level meetings have given impetus to the quality of the strategic partnership between our countries to a new level, and the constant development of mutually beneficial cooperation. The work done in a short period of time in accordance with the agreements reached, and the result-oriented measures implemented to strengthen the partnership are highly appreciated. In this regard, the strengthening of mutual economic relations and the achievement of effective results are the main goals.
Regarding the work done to develop the economic and trade partnership between our countries, it was brought to attention that purposeful steps are being taken towards the successful implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan held in August last year. It was reported that the trade turnover between our countries increased significantly last year. However, there is great scope for expanding trade cooperation. Strengthening the partnership with Uzbekistan in the field of mutual investment is also of particular importance The intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Fund, which will contribute to strengthening the relations between the regions and business circles of the two countries, to be signed at the 1st Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Interregional Forum, is also important in this regard. The issues contained in the document serve to increase mutual investments and trade turnover, and to strengthen economic cooperation.
It was emphasized at the event that there is a wide potential for trade, investment, industry, the involvement of Uzbek companies in the "Araz Valley" Economic Zone and Aghdam industrial parks, Alat Free Economic Zone, partnership in the digital economy and other areas and Uzbek businessmen were invited to active cooperation.
The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, emphasized his country's interest in implementing joint projects with Azerbaijan in various directions, noted the purposeful measures implemented for the purpose of expanding economic relations, the importance of the signed documents, and shared his views on the development of partnership.
Measures implemented by the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission to strengthen economic cooperation and opportunities for increasing mutual investments were discussed at the meeting.
