Tajikistan-Azerbaijan Investment Forum took place

More than 170 companies from both countries representing the fields of energy, agriculture, food industry, ICT, finance, tourism and pharmaceuticals took part in the Tajikistan-Azerbaijan Investment Forum held in Dushanbe. Memorandums of understanding were signed between the relevant institutions of the two countries at the forum.

 

Making a speech at the Investment Forum jointly organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan - AZPROMO and the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan, the Chairman of the State Committee Sadyi Kodirzod informed about the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, stressed the importance of business events with the participation of business structures for establishing closer relations between Azerbaijani and Tajik entrepreneurs and increasing the effectiveness of cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Sahib Mammadov emphasized that the relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have deep historical and cultural roots, the meetings held by the heads of state in various formats and friendly relations between our peoples are the basis of our joint cooperation. Sahib Mammadov, noting that Azerbaijan attaches importance to the development of bilateral economic relations with Tajikistan, stated that: “Expanding cooperation between the two countries in industry, trade, agriculture and other sectors is one of the main directions. Azerbaijan's favorable business and investment environment opens up new opportunities and wide horizons for realizing this potential. The activity of the private sector and the expansion of business dialogue are of particular importance in the implementation of joint initiatives”.

Yusif Abdullayev, Head of AZPROMO, Jumakhonzod Jamshed, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rufat Atakishiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA), Aziz Nazar, Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, Fuad Maharramov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Economic Zone Development Agency (EZIA), Manuchehr Safarzoda, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ismayil Manafov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone, Kamoliddin Bahoddur, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Kenan Guluzade, Advisor to the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan informed about the expansion of relations in the relevant areas of the economy, the investment potential of both countries, and the business and investment environment, the forum also featured presentations on the investment potential of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan and the projects being implemented.

Memorandums of understanding were signed within the framework of the event between the Confederation of Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, between the "Azerbaijan Women's Entrepreneurship Development Association" Public Union and the "National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan", between the Azerbaijan International Mining Company and Talco Management Company of Tajikistan, as well as between "AzerTurk Bank" and "Amonatbonk". The forum continued with B2B meetings.

Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov met with Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Ahliddin Nuriddinzoda within the framework of the visit.

The trends that have a direct impact on the bilateral economic relations of our countries were discussed, the importance of effective use of available resources and opportunities was emphasized at this level at the meeting.

The parties exchanged views on defining the main directions of economic and trade relations.
