Meeting held between the ministers of the UN Special Programme for Economies of Central Asian Countries (SPECA)

Consultations were held within the framework of SPECA regarding the possibilities of multilateral cooperation, the development of partnership, and the facilitation of the process of joining the world economy.

Multilateral consultations and bilateral meetings on regional cooperation were organized in Geneva, Switzerland, within the framework of the dialogue between the ministers of SPECA member states and heads of UN specialized agencies and representatives of non-governmental organizations.

The Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov, who participated in the events, emphasized the long-term cooperative relations between SPECA and our country, board cooperation with member states in many areas of the economy both at the intergovernmental level and within the Program. Emphasizing the importance of using the potential of regional transport and transit routes, the minister said: “Since most of the SPECA member countries are landlocked, involvement in international and regional transport corridors is critical to improve the efficiency of our economies. Our countries, which support the creation of a wide economic corridor along the historical Silk Road, ensure the efficient organization of transit transportation in various directions”. It was noted that Azerbaijan has made large-scale investments in the development of road and transport infrastructure, including the construction of a modern railway network, sea ports, and a wide network of highways in recent years. The liberation of the occupied territories of our country gave a new impetus to the development of regional transport and logistics routes.

The Minister of Economy also informed about the economic successes of Azerbaijan. It was noted that large-scale rehabilitation and restoration works are being carried out in the liberated areas, and measures are being taken to rebuild these territories based on ecologically clean technologies. It is planned to create "zero emission" zones by 2050 by using "smart" and "green" approaches.
