Economic relations with Uzbekistan expanding

A discussion was held on the strengthening of economic partnership in various directions, and a number of documents were signed within the 12th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission in a meeting with the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov in Shusha.

The special role of the political will of our heads of state, high-level visits, meetings and events in the development of bilateral relations with friendly Uzbekistan was emphasized at the meeting. It was noted that the activity of the joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is an important platform for the development of economic relations, was further activated through mutual efforts. Information was provided at the meeting on the favorable business and investment environment of Azerbaijan, reconstruction and restoration carried out in our liberated territories, as well as business revival works, opportunities created for investors, Uzbek investors were invited to take advantage of the business environment created in our country.

The parties discussed the strengthening of economic partnership in various directions and other issues of mutual interest.

Minister of Economy, co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized at the 12th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan that the event was the first intergovernmental commission meeting organized in Shusha and expressed his satisfaction that it was held together with friends from Uzbekistan. The Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan noted that our peoples and countries are united by friendly relations, common history, roots, traditions and culture, and drew attention to the importance of measures implemented to expand relations. It was reported that the mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan are developing on an upward trend.

The Minister of Economy provided information about Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan economic relations and noted that our economic-trade and investment partnership is expanding. The establishment of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Fund will give a new impetus to the development of investment cooperation and dialogue between business circles. In addition, the development of relations in energy, interregional cooperation, industry, especially automobile industry, textile, agriculture, transport-transit, health, tourism, humanitarian and other fields are among the issues on the agenda of our economic cooperation.

Information was provided at the meeting about the favorable business environment in Azerbaijan, the mechanisms used to increase economic activity, the reintegration measures implemented in our liberated territories and it was emphasized that a school was built for 960 students by Uzbekistan in Fuzuli, and gratitude was expressed to the brotherly country for its participation in the reconstruction of Karabakh.

The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the intergovernmental commission in Shusha, and noted that the reconstruction works carried out in Karabakh and East Zangezur were highly appreciated. It was pointed out that Uzbekistan is always ready to contribute to the restoration and construction works carried out in our territories liberated from occupation. Laziz Kudratov emphasized the successful partnership relations between our countries in various fields, shared his views on new directions of cooperation, development of business relations and implementation of joint projects.

Discussions were held at the meeting on diversification of economic and trade relations, development of partnership relations in transport-transit, industry, energy, agriculture, investment and other fields.

The co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission signed the Protocol at the end of the meeting on the results of the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to the document, expansion of cooperation in economic-trade, energy, transport, innovations and start-ups, health, agriculture, food safety, water management, tourism, humanitarian and social fields is envisaged.

An agreement was signed at the event between the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and the Reconstruction and Development Fund of Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Investment Company, as well as documents on the expansion of cooperation in the field of energy.
