The representative office of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Turkmenistan was opened in Ashgabat on November 28, 2023,.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of SOCAR Supervisory Board, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Ashirgulu Begliyev, adviser to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and the ambassadors of the two countries.
First of all, the event participants got acquainted with the conditions created in the office.
SOCAR Supervisory Board Chairman, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov making a speech at the event emphasized the special role of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the President of Turkmenistan Mr. Sardar Berdimuhamedov in the development of relations between the two countries. It was mentioned that the opening of SOCAR's representative office in Ashgabat is a manifestation of confidence in the strengthening of long-term activities with Turkmenistan and the realization of our countries' common interests in the energy sector.
Noting that 2023 is a significant year for the people of Azerbaijan, the minister stated that the opening of SOCAR's second representative office abroad within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" is of particular importance. The minister pointed out that more than 100 interstate and intergovernmental documents signed between our countries form the legal basis of our relations. Mikayil Jabbarov thanked everyone who contributed to the opening and wished success to the delegation.
Advisor to the President of Turkmenistan on oil and gas issues Ashirgulu Begliyev spoke at the event and conveyed his congratulations on the opening of the representative office. Ashirgulu Begliyev expressed confidence that the representation will make a valuable contribution to the further expansion of cooperation in the energy sector between our countries.
SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf pointed out that the opening of SOCAR's representative office in Turkmenistan is a significant event. Talking about the existing cooperation between SOCAR and Turkmenistan's energy companies, Rovshan Najaf emphasized the importance of opening a new representative office.
