The development of cooperation was discussed at the meeting with UNIDO at the Ministry of Economy.
Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov met with Ms. Fatou Haidara, Deputy Director-General of the United Nations (UN) Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
The importance of Azerbaijan's effective cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies, as well as the measures implemented by UNIDO in the direction of promoting industry to ensure sustainable development, was stated at the meeting. It was mentioned that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is one of the main priorities of the economic policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The close alignment of the socio-economic development strategy of our country covering the years 2022-2026 with the UN Development Agenda until 2030 facilitates the coordination of joint efforts.
It was pointed out that the organization is ready to support our country within the framework of COP29 and is interested in expanding cooperation within this framework.
The parties discussed the establishment of UNIDO's Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Azerbaijan, project proposals on the directions provided for in the Framework Document on Cooperation between the organization and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026, and other issues of mutual interest.
