Meeting held with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister

Prospects for expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan in several economic fields were discussed at the meeting held at the Ministry of Economy.

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov held a meeting with Jamshid Khodjaev, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was noted at the meeting that the political will and joint efforts of the heads of state are the foundation for the strategic partnership relations between the two countries. The Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan relations are of multilateral nature and envisage various economic sectors.

Works are underway in the energy, agriculture, tourism, small and medium entrepreneurship, healthcare and transportation sectors. There are favorable conditions for enhancing the cooperation in several directions of industry, as well as transportation-logistics.

The parties stressed the operations of the Azerbaijan – Uzbekistan Investment Company which is aimed at promoting the production of high technology goods in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, increasing the trade turnover, expanding the ties among the business communities and attracting foreign investments. It was highlighted that the joint projects will give impetus to the economic stability in the region, the welfare of our nations, access of our countries’ business communities to perspective trade platforms, creation of new jobs and improvement of local infrastructure.

The parties evaluated prospects for activities in industry, energy, logistics, agriculture and tourism within the framework of the Roadmap on Expanding Trade, Economic and Investment Cooperation for 2024-2025.
