During the session, discussions were held on the opportunities and key challenges for a successful energy transition, as well as issues related to financing the energy transition.
At the event, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov provided information on Azerbaijan’s active initiatives as a reliable partner in global energy security and sustainable energy supply, as well as its green energy transition strategy. The minister highlighted ongoing solar and wind energy production projects in the country and the potential for exporting green energy. The achievements of COP29, hosted by Azerbaijan, were also shared with the participants.
The Minister of Economy, Mikayıl Jabbarov, together with the Assistant to the President, Shahmar Movsumov, and the Executive Director of the State Oil Fund, Israfil Mammadov, held a meeting with Ricardo Hausmann, the Director of Harvard University’s "Growth Lab" International Development Center, within the framework of the Davos Economic Forum.
The meeting highlighted the importance of reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy in the fight against global climate change. The significance of the global "Green Growth Portal," developed through the collaboration between the Ministry of Economy and Harvard University, was emphasized in terms of improving green transition strategies and promoting sustainable development. Discussions were held on the effective cooperation carried out within the framework of COP29 and future joint initiatives.
The positive outcomes of the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan's labor market and the incentive mechanisms applied in the tax system were highlighted. The parties discussed the importance of the analyses conducted in promoting a sustainable economy and explored future partnership opportunities.
Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov held a meeting with the CEO of Saudi Arabia's "ACWA Power" company, Marco Arcelli, within the framework of the Davos Economic Forum.
