A meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy with Ralf Böhme, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Policy of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the 10th session of the Azerbaijan-Germany High-Level Working Group on Trade and Investment was organized.
Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli met with Ralf Bohme, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Policy of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
At the meeting, the friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Germany were emphasized. It was noted that mutual trade and economic cooperation continues with positive dynamics. It was stated that great importance is attached to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, energy, and other priority areas. Information was provided on the favorable investment environment established in Azerbaijan.
The parties discussed the promotion of mutual cooperation between Azerbaijani and German companies, the implementation of joint investment projects, the exchange of experience in the development of the digital economy, and the opportunities for expanding cooperation in agriculture, transport and logistics, and other areas.
Later, the 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Germany High-Level Working Group on Trade and Investment was held. The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Samad Bashirli and Head of the Foreign Economic Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany Ralf Bohme.
The meeting highlighted the successful economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany, noting that Germany is among the top 10 investors in Azerbaijan’s non-oil and gas sector. It was stated that currently around 200 German commercial entities operate in Azerbaijan across industry, transport, construction, trade, agriculture, services, and other sectors.
The event provided information on Azerbaijan’s current economic situation and ongoing reforms. It was noted that, amid global economic fluctuations, macroeconomic stability has been maintained in the country. The significance of Azerbaijan’s strategic transport and transit position and its key role in diversifying trade and energy routes along the Middle Corridor was also emphasized.
During the event, information was presented on Azerbaijan’s economic, trade, industrial, and investment opportunities, as well as developments in the energy, agriculture, food security, transport, digital development, education, tourism, culture, healthcare sectors, and water resources management. Presentations were shown highlighting these areas. It was also noted that joint ventures with foreign investment are highly supported in Azerbaijan, and efforts to promote production localization are actively underway.
It was noted that there is significant potential to strengthen relations and establish partnerships in new areas. Discussions were held on the participation opportunities for German companies in the industrial parks and the Alat Free Economic Zone, as well as on the development of cooperation in the transport sector.
Ralf Bohme, Head of the Foreign Economic Policy Department of Germany’s Ministry of Economy and Energy, noted that the issues discussed within the framework of the 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Germany High-Level Working Group will give impetus to the development of bilateral economic and trade relations, and shared his views on the prospects for expanding economic cooperation.
