Meeting with World Bank delegation held

A meeting with a World Bank delegation was held at the Ministry of Economy, where improvements to Azerbaijan’s business environment, promotion of sustainable economic growth, and employment were discussed.

Minister of Economy Mikayıl Jabbarov met with the delegation led by Asad Alam, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Prosperity in Europe and Central Asia Region.

The meeting highlighted the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank. Information was provided on the development of business in the country, promotion of the non-oil-gas sector, green and export-oriented economy, support for entrepreneurship - especially small and medium-sized enterprises - and the challenges and opportunities in these areas. National economic development, the importance of the private sector, promotion of development-oriented investments, and support for innovation initiatives were discussed.

The parties exchanged views on the directions planned for inclusion in the draft “Strategy for Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2027-2030,” as well as on improving the business environment and promoting sustainable economic growth and employment. Opportunities for applying the results of analyses on intensive business development from international experience and research methodologies for stimulating the private sector in Azerbaijan were reviewed.
