Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, 19 June 2026 – On the final day of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, the chairmanship of the IsDB Board of Governors has been handed over to Burkina Faso.
During the event organized within the framework of the IsDB Group Annual Meetings, held under the high patronage of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. President Ilham Aliyev, the strategic directions of the activities of the institutions within the IsDB Group, achieved results, and the priorities for the upcoming period were reviewed. The discussions emphasized the importance of promoting inclusive economic growth, expanding sustainable financing mechanisms, and strengthening cooperation among member countries.
Furthermore, ideas were exchanged on joint initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development goals amid global economic challenges, increasing investment and financing opportunities, as well as deepening partnerships among member countries. Following this, the chairmanship of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank was handed over to Burkina Faso.
The 2027 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group will be organized in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It is noteworthy that following the meeting of the Islamic Development Bank's Board of Governors held in Algiers, Algeria, 19–22 May 2025, the chairmanship of the IsDB Board of Governors was entrusted to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
