A meeting took place between the Minister of Economy, Co-Chairman of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkmenistan Mikayil Jabbarov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to our country Gurbanmammet Elyasov, focusing on the prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation.
Congratulating the Ambassador on his diplomatic activities in Azerbaijan and wishing him every success, the Minister said: “The Azerbaijani-Turkmen relations are constantly developing, a solid contractual and legal basis is being created for expanding cooperation, and trade and economic ties are being strengthened. The transport and transit sector is among the main areas of our partnership, and the effective use of the created favorable infrastructure and potential contributes to the development of the region. The shortest and most convenient route connecting the regions of the Caucasus and Central Asia passes through Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan through the Caspian Sea, making our countries an important actor in transcontinental transport corridors”.
The meeting provided information about the prospects for cooperation between the two countries, and focused on the possibility of developing relations in energy, investment, transport, trade, communications and other areas.
Ambassador Gurbanmammet Elyasov expressed satisfaction with the start of diplomatic activity in our country, stressing that he would make efforts to further enhance the partnership.
The sides also exchanged views on holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and other issues of mutual interest in the economic sphere.
