At the meeting of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, with the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciuca, during his official visit to Bulgaria in early October this year, the issue of cooperation in the field of energy with the countries of the region was discussed, thereby identifying areas to intensify partnerships.
In accordance with these areas, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation was signed between the Romanian Romgaz and SOCAR during a visit to Romania on October 19 by a delegation consisting of Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and the leadership of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
The MoU was signed by SOCAR Vice President Elshad Nasirov and Romgaz Deputy General Director Aristotle Jude.
This event emphasized the important role of Azerbaijan in the energy security of Europe, the development of relations with Romania in a number of areas of the economy, the activities of SOCAR in this country, and an exchange of views took place on the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in the energy sector, including renewable energy sources.
