General information about the organization

· The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) was established on January 1, 2011 on the basis of the German Technical Cooperation Society (GTZ), which had operated since 1975.

· Its headquarters are located in the German cities of Bonn and Eschborn.

· The head of the GIZ Management Board is Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven.

· GIZ operates in 130 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Mediterranean and Middle East countries, as well as in Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

  • It has representative offices in 87 countries.

Information about cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization

· GIZ has been working on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development since 1995.

· GIZ project coordination office has been operating in Azerbaijan since 2007.

  • The country's director is Ms. Sandra Schenke.

· At present, GIZ is implementing 4 projects in Azerbaijan mainly covering governance and economic development, vocational education, energy and environment.

  • Current projects:

- Manager Training Programme;

- Economic and Social Participation of Vulnerable Displaced Persons and Local Population in the South Caucasus (EPIC);

- Eastern Partnership Regional Fund for Public Administration Reforms II;

- Digital transformation of SMEs in Eastern Partnership countries by European Union.
