Information about cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization |
· Our country has been a member of the organization since 30 th July, 1993; · Visits of UNECE Executive Secretaries to our country: o 23rd November, 2011 – Ján Kubiš; o 1-2nd December, 2013 – Sven Alkalaj; o 22-23rd November, 2016 – Christian Friis Bach; o 29-30th November, 2018 – Olga Algayerova. · On 23rd November, 2011, a meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the Executive Secretary of UNECE Ján Kubiš. Discussions were held mainly on matters of electronic services; · On 1-2 nd December, 2013, UNECE Executive Secretary Sven Alkalaj visited Baku. The main topics of the visit were the prospects of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNECE and the field of information and communication technologies; · Christian Friis Bach visited our country in November 2016 within the framework of the 11th meeting of the SPECA Economic Forum and Management Council; · UNECE Executive Secretary Ms. Olga Algayerova visited Azerbaijan on 29-30 th November, 2018: o During the visit, he held high-level meetings in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and for the purpose of discussing future cooperation prospects, a round table was organized with the participation of senior level representatives of a number of state institutions actively cooperating with the organization o Within the framework of the visit, a Joint Statement was also signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNECE on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. o For achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the mentioned document envisages the promotion of cooperation in areas such as trade facilitation and human skills enhancement, renewable energy and energy efficiency, investment, technology and innovation, green economy, application of green technologies, environmental monitoring system, protection of water resources, solving problems of air pollution and environmental degradation, forests, quality standards in agriculture. · In 2012, the representative of Azerbaijan was elected the vice-chairman of the Trade Committee of UNECE; · Participation in various events and meetings of UNECE is ensured by the employees of the Ministry of Economy as well as the institutions under the Ministry; · Representatives of the Ministry of Economy participated in the 70 th session of UNECE held in Geneva on April 18-19 2023. During the event information was provided on the restoration and rehabilitation works in the territories liberated from occupation. |
