· AFD operates in 115 countries with 85 offices.

· AFD carry out more than 4,200 projects in France’s overseas departments and territories and another 150 countries.

Information about cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization

· On October 7, 2011 Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Azerbaijan and AFD.

· In frame of Memorandum of Understanding, AFD aimed to support urban resilience and adaptation projects in the country through the financing of urban infrastructures (transport, water and sanitation, waste management, pollution control etc.), sustainable land management and natural resource preservation (irrigation, forest, etc.), support for the energy transition (renewable energies, energy efficiency and energy sector reform) and connectivity.

  • Sovereign loans were attracted for 3 projects.

- 1 project (“Railway Sector Development Program” project) has been completed.

- 2 projects are ongoing.

  • Ongoing projects:

- “Reconstruction of Sumgayit-Yalama railway line” Project (Beneficiary: “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC; Period: 2019-2024);

- “Building of two workshops for the maintenance of 50 AC locomotives” (Beneficiary: “Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC; Period: 2018-2024);
