Public discussions on “Customs reforms: Challenges and opportunities” was organized with the support of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA), the State Customs Committee, the SMBDA Public Council, and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Organization.
The event, organized as part of state-business cooperation, was attended by representatives of relevant government agencies, business associations, and entrepreneurs.
Farhad Garashov, Chairman of the Public Council under SMBDA, noted that the event was the first public discussion organized after the formation of the new composition of the Council.
It was noted that in 2023, with the organization of the SMBDA Public Council, such discussions and trainings will continue in order to study the difficulties faced by business entities and strengthen public-private cooperation in this area.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Acting Chairman, Lieutenant General of the Customs Service Shahin Baghirov, emphasized the importance of such public discussions within the framework of customs-business cooperation and talked about the customs reforms.
He noted that the opinions and proposals of entrepreneurs are taken into account in order to improve the custom efficiency.
Chairman of the SMBDA Management Board Orkhan Mammadov noted that Agency regularly holds number of events on various platforms with the participation of representatives of the State Customs Committee to inform entrepreneurs on customs procedures and discuss emerging difficulties.
It was emphasized that in order to study the difficulties of SMEs, six industry meetings and educational events took place in 2022 with the participation about 200 entrepreneurs.
Orkhan Mammadov also informed about the proposals and expectations for the customs procedure simplification.
The business proposals and the difficulties they faced were presented at the event and the representatives of the relevant public structures were answered the questions.
