It was a press conference regarding the results of the last year's activity and future plans of the public legal entity "Economic and Scientific Research Institute" (Institute) under the Ministry of Economy. Chairman of the Board of Management of the Institute, Mahir Humbatov, made a presentation about the work done by the institution and prospective plans.
It was reported that the Institute participated in the development of economic strategies and programs on various topics. Researches in various fields were conducted at the institute, the leading experience of different countries was studied about the leading role of digital technologies in the development of the "Smart city" concept. Joint events and meetings was held and cooperative relations were established in 2022 with the participation of representatives of the Institute together with the Economic Cooperation Organization, the CAREC Institute, Centre for Eastern Studies, Poland and "Bloomberg L.P." company, Georgian "ISET" Policy Institute, Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies and other institutions. The Institute was also elected a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum.
It was reported that the number of Doctoral students of the Institute has been increased from 6 to 12, the number of places for specializations has been increased from 18 to 33, the number of candidates admitted to doctoral and dissertation studies has increased from 2 to 15 people. 11 doctoral students completed their dissertation work and passed a preliminary discussion, and 6 people passed the defense in 2022. The programs of the minimum examinations in the specialties "Economy of technological innovations", "Organization and management of enterprises", "Organization of industry and state policy" and "Econometrics: economic statistics" were prepared and submitted to the Higher Attestation Commission.
The Institute plans to organize a nationwide and international scientific article competition in connection with the declaration of 2023 as the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in Azerbaijan. In addition, it is planned to hold an international conference on "Heydar Aliyev and the economy of Azerbaijan", as well as to organize the 3rd Economic Cooperation Organization Think Tanks Forum by the Institute.
It was mentioned that the Institute's official websites (www.esri.gov.az and www.theesri.com) and social network pages in 3 languages (Azerbaijani, Russian, English) will be launched this year. The institution's electronic library and a unified electronic journal platform are also being created.
