The meetings of the sectoral Working Groups, SPECA 2023 Economic Forum and the 18th session of the SPECA Governing Council, which will be held within the SPECA week, will discuss the development of new strategies for solving the common problems of the participating states, including the creation of a Trust Fund within the Program.
SPECA (UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia) week will be held in Baku on November 20-24, 2023. The meetings of the Working Groups on Trade and Gender and SDGs will take place on November 20, the Economic Forum on November 21-22, the 18th session of the SPECA Governing Council on November 23, and the SPECA Summit on November 24 within the SPECA week.
The purpose of holding the SPECA 2023 Economic Forum under the title "Transforming the SPECA region into a connectivity hub with global outreach" is to transform the program into a service-oriented, flexible and strategic platform. Discussions will be held at the event on the topics of digital transformation of data and document exchange in the supply chain, transport connectivity, green energy connectivity in the SPECA region, and the growing importance of the Middle Corridor against the background of new challenges.
There will be an exchange of views at the 18th session of the SPECA Governing Council on the results of the Economic Forum, the discussion of the documents regulating the working mechanism of the Program, as well as other documents.
Besides, an exhibition called "SPECA Countries Exhibition: Regional Cooperation for Sustainable Development" is planned to be held within SPECA week.
Note: The UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) was established in 1998. The member states of the program are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The purpose of the program is to support the development of cooperation between member states and integration into the world economy. SPECA will be chaired by the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2023.
