Memorandum of Understanding signed with Islamic Development Bank

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Economy and the Islamic Development Bank on the preparation of the Countrywide Cooperation Framework.

The signing ceremony of the "Memorandum of Understanding on the preparation of the Countrywide Cooperation Framework for Azerbaijan" was held between the Ministry of Economy and the Islamic Development Bank in videoconference format.

The document was signed by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser.

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized at the event the support provided by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to our country in the direction of the development of the public and private sector, and emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches importance to cooperation with the institutions included in the IDB Group.

The Countrywide Cooperation Framework document was evaluated as the beginning of a new era in Azerbaijan-IDB cooperation. It was mentioned that the implementation of the document will stimulate the development of "green" and sustainable infrastructure, diversification of the economy and digital transformation. It was pointed out that the work to be done in accordance with the document will strengthen the cooperation between the parties and joint activities in the direction of the socio-economic development goals of our country.

The President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser, emphasized that the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan and the projects implemented in connection with the transition to the "green" economy are supported by the IDB. Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser stated that the Countrywide Cooperation Framework will expand potential areas of cooperation and promote economic growth. It was noted that the document will be the main platform for future medium-term cooperation between Azerbaijan and IDB.

Opinions were also exchanged at the meeting on the issues on the agenda of the COP29 event, which will be hosted by Azerbaijan.
