Strategic directions for the "Framework Document on Sustainable Development Cooperation between the United Nations (UN) and Azerbaijan for 2021-2025" have been defined.
A meeting was held by the Government-UN Joint Steering Committee on the implementation of the "Framework Document on Sustainable Development Cooperation between the UN and Azerbaijan for 2021-2025". Joint Work Plans for the implementation of the Framework Document for 2024 were discussed and approved, and the budget process and strategic directions for the financial year were determined at the event.
Making a speech at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov emphasized that Azerbaijan cooperates effectively with various UN specialized agencies and as a result of the implementation of the 5th Framework Document, UN-Azerbaijan relations have reached the partnership stage. It was reported that the organization of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Azerbaijan confirms the position of our country as a responsible partner in solving global problems and creates an additional incentive for expanding our relations with the UN.
Ms. Vladanka Andreyeva, UN Resident Coordinator for the Country, mentioned that important work has been done in Azerbaijan in the direction of strengthening partnership with the government and civil society on the Sustainable Development Goals, fighting climate change, promoting and supporting inclusive development, and gender equality. It was noted that there is close cooperation with the government and other partners for the COP29 event.
Presentations were made within the framework of the event on the results of 2023 and the priority directions of 2024 by the co-chairs of the Result Groups in 5 directions for the implementation of the Framework Document.
Note: The Framework Document signed between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the UN defines strategic directions for cooperation between the Government of Azerbaijan and the UN Country Board for 2021-2025. The Government-UN Joint Steering Committee consisting of the representatives of the Government and UN specialized agencies operating in our country on the implementation of the Framework Document and Result Groups have been formed in 5 directions on the priority areas of the Document.
