Azerbaijan and Türkiye expand energy cooperation

Within the framework of the visit to Türkiye, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has held a meeting with Alparslan Bayraktar, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye. "The Cooperation Agreement in the field of gas between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye” has been signed.

As part of his visit to Türkiye, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov has held a meeting with Alparslan Bayraktar, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye.

It was highlighted at the meeting that the Azerbaijan – Türkiye relations, based on the friendship and brotherhood as a result of the sincere ties and efforts of the heads of state, are developing successfully. It was noted that Türkiye is the 2nd main trade partner of Azerbaijan. The parties emphasized that the large-scale energy projects implemented with the participation of Azerbaijan and Türkiye play a crucial role in the energy security of the region and the diversification of energy supply sources to Europe, as well as contribute to the economic development.

The parties discussed the effective energy collaboration, the jointly implemented projects, as well as new partnership opportunities. The new cooperation directions will serve the strategic interests of Azerbaijan and Türkiye and will be mutually beneficial for both countries. The shared plans and objectives will further strengthen our friendship, enhancing cooperation between the countries.

Within the framework of the event, the “Cooperation Agreement in the field of gas between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye” was signed. In accordance with the Agreement, Azerbaijan and Türkiye will deepen the cooperation on ensuring the energy security of the region and diversifying energy supply sources. The Agreement will yield mutual benefits for gas producing, transporting, and consuming countries, as well as their citizens and ventures.
