Meeting held with the regional director of the World Bank

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Economy with the World Bank's Regional Director, discussions focused on collaborative activities within green economy transition projects, the Country Partnership Framework document, and COP29.

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Sameh Naguib Wahba, the World Bank's Regional Director for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia.

The meeting highlighted the satisfaction with the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank. It was emphasized that joint projects contribute significantly to economic diversification, private sector growth, infrastructure, solid waste management, agriculture, and other sectors in Azerbaijan. Discussions covered potential areas for future collaboration, priority projects for the coming years, renewable energy initiatives, employment support measures, and studies conducted by the World Bank to support state-owned enterprises. Partnership opportunities within the framework of COP29 were also discussed.

The parties exchanged views on joint activities within the “Green and Resilient Cities” project, including the restoration of Baku's water supply and sewage systems, smart solutions in agriculture and irrigation, and the 2025-2029 Country Partnership Framework document. The document covers investment programs and technical assistance aligned with national priorities.
