"Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory" LLC has been granted resident status in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park.
Within the framework of the contract signed in November last year with China's "BYD Company Limited" (BYD) for the localization of electric bus production in Azerbaijan, "Azerbaijan Energy Automotive Factory" LLC has been granted resident status in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, managed by the Agency for the Development of Economic Zones under the Ministry of Economy.
The newly registered resident will carry out the production of electric motor buses within the territory of the Industrial Park.
Within the framework of the project, which has an investment value of more than 29 million manat, 600 people will be employed.
The facility, which will use advanced technology from China, is expected to begin operations this year.
The electric motor buses to be produced by the company will be sold under the BYD brand, and in the initial phase, the production of 12-meter long BYD "K9UD" model buses will take place. The facility's annual production capacity will be 500 buses.
The electric motor buses to be produced will initially be directed towards meeting domestic demand, and in the next phase, their export is planned.
