At the 71st session of the UNECE held in Geneva, First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev, representing our country, delivered a Joint Statement on behalf of the Middle Corridor Group.
The 71st session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on the theme “Climate Action and Sustainable Infrastructure for a Sustainable Future” was held in Geneva.
The event emphasized the importance of joint efforts to address global environmental challenges and the significance of innovative solutions that mitigate the effects of climate change and support more resilient and secure infrastructure systems for future generations. The importance of regional partnerships and cooperation among governments, international organizations, and business representatives in this regard was also highlighted.
At the event, First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev delivered a Joint Statement on behalf of the delegations of Azerbaijan, Turkiye, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Hungary.
The statement emphasized the importance of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (Middle Corridor) as a strategic transportation route connecting Asia and Europe. It was noted that, due to their geographical location and infrastructure potential, the countries located along this corridor have established the Middle Corridor Group among their Permanent Missions in Geneva. The purpose of this Group is to promote the efficient functioning of the Middle Corridor at the international level, fully realize its potential, and accelerate the transition to green energy. It was highlighted that increasing innovation and investment, simplifying procedures to expand trade, and accelerating digitalization will further strengthen regional cooperation.
As part of the session, high-level dialogues, panel meetings, and roundtable discussions were held in line with the global climate agenda.
