An exchange of views was held on strengthening institutional foundations with the United States, new cooperation mechanisms, and investment initiatives.
Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Brendan Hanrahan, Senior Official of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the U.S. Department of State.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the dynamics of the development of economic relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, and discussions were held on the steps to be taken to elevate cooperation to a new stage.
The parties emphasized the importance of the Intergovernmental Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Strategic Working Group for the preparation of the Charter on Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States. This initiative is of particular significance in terms of strengthening the institutional foundations of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also highlighted Azerbaijan’s priorities for the development of economic cooperation with the United States. It was noted that the ongoing economic reforms, improvements in the business environment, and strategic infrastructure projects in our country create favorable opportunities for U.S. companies.
As a continuation of the meetings held in Washington — including discussions with the U.S. Export-Import Bank (US EXIM Bank), “SpaceX,” “Exxon Mobil,” and other leading institutions — an exchange of views was held on new cooperation mechanisms and investment initiatives.
The discussions also focused on the continuation of work on the Zangazur Corridor (Trans-Caspian Regional Development and Partnership Platform – TRIPP) and the contribution of implementing regional transport and logistics projects to economic cooperation.
