Progress within the project to localize the production of electric engine buses in Azerbaijan was discussed.
Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Tian Chunlong, the General Manager of the Commercial Vehicle Division of China’s BYD company.
It was noted that in recent years, the cooperation between Azerbaijan and China has rapidly developed. Several important agreements and memorandums signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to China, including the “Joint Declaration on Establishing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China,” open wide prospects for collaboration. It was stressed that Chinese companies’ investment projects in Azerbaijan, as well as ties under the Belt and Road Initiative, contribute to strengthening the regional integration.
The meeting provided information on measures being taken to achieve the country’s economic priorities, enhance the industrial potential, apply green technologies, and increase energy efficiency.
New opportunities for partnership, as well as prospects for cooperation in experience and knowledge exchange, were discussed. The importance of investment in new production facilities for developing the added value chain was highlighted.
The work carried out and upcoming targets within the project to localize the production of electric buses at the Sumgait Industrial Park were reviewed.
