A familiarization visit to the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park was organized for media representatives on May 1. During the visit, members of the media were informed about the overall operations of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park and the newly inaugurated enterprises.
Emil Hajiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Economic Zones Development Agency, stated that the total investment capital of the two newly launched enterprises exceeds 44 million AZN. In the first phase, these enterprises have already created nearly 200 permanent jobs. Initially, the products manufactured at these facilities will be aimed at meeting domestic market demand, and in the next phase, they will be exported to countries such as Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Iran, and others.
With the opening of new enterprises in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, the total number of enterprises operating in the existing industrial zones of Azerbaijan has reached 88.
In addition, several more enterprises are scheduled to start operating in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park this year. The upcoming enterprises will be engaged in the production of aluminum sheet mirrors, construction materials, cardboard paper for packaging agro-industrial products, as well as the reprocessing of motor and industrial oils to produce base oils and other related products.
39 entrepreneurial entities with an investment portfolio exceeding 6 billion AZN have been granted residency status in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. To date, over 5.5 billion AZN have been invested in the Park by these entrepreneurs, resulting in the creation of more than 6,200 permanent jobs. Additionally, ongoing projects are expected to attract a further 515 million AZN in investments and create nearly 2,700 new permanent jobs in the next phase. The residents of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park have collectively achieved 14 billion AZN in product sales so far, of which 5 billion AZN account for exports. In the first quarter of the current year, the Park produced goods worth 659 million AZN, including 251 million AZN in exports. Compared to the same period last year, production increased by 14.2%, while exports rose by 17.2%. During this quarter, the Park accounted for 13.5% of the country’s total non-oil industrial production and 26.1% of non-oil exports.
Media representatives visited the construction chemicals manufacturing facility of “Kartaş Kimya” LLC. It was noted that the plant is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery imported from Turkey and includes 7 production lines for various product categories. The facility has an annual production capacity of 295,000 tons. The plant will manufacture cement-based dry mixtures, waterproofing and flooring materials, cement grinding additives, concrete admixtures, and their primary raw materials. Currently, the facility employs 102 people.
Media representatives visited the “Az-Tex-Import” LLC plant for the assembly of IVECO-branded trucks and special-purpose vehicles. It was noted that the facility will carry out the assembly of Italian “IVECO” brand trucks and special-purpose vehicles. In the second phase of the project, the production of vehicle bodies is also planned. The plant will manufacture 100 trucks and special-purpose vehicles, as well as 300 vehicle bodies per year. A total of 150 new jobs are expected to be created across both phases of the project. As of now, 96 individuals have been employed under the first phase. The total investment cost of the project across both phases exceeds 19.2 million AZN.
