The Fourth Industrial Revolution is a way to describe the convergence of boundaries between the physical, digital and biological planes. It combines advances in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, genetic engineering, quantum computing and other technologies.
Azerbaijan is committed to adequately respond to global challenges and trends and be at the forefront of implementing new development trends in the post-pandemic period. In this regard, our country is active to establish a favorable infrastructure for the development of the digital economy and technologies, as well as conditions in line with the standards of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, established by the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated January 6, 2021, also serves the purpose of strengthening the position of our country in the conditions of new realities, maximizing the use of advanced technological capabilities, and cooperating and coordinating with international organizations in this area. The Center carries out cooperation and coordination between the Republic of Azerbaijan and international organizations working in the field of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as analyzes and coordinates challenges, initiatives, strategies and projects in the digital economy.
Note that on January 21, 2020 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and President of the World Economic Forum Borge Brende signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Azerbaijani Affiliate of the World Economic Forum's Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Network. Accordingly, the Affiliate Center of the World Economic Forum’s C4IR Network was established in Azerbaijan, the purpose of which is to transform our country into a digital and technological center. The Azerbaijani Affiliate is the first of its kind in the CIS. The Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution also coordinates the activities of the Affiliate Center from April 1, 2021. The Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution works collaboratively with the World Economic Forum's platforms for artificial intelligence and machine learning, the Internet of Things and urban transformation, and digital commerce and economic. As part of these platforms, it is planned to implement activities in various sectors of the economy. In parallel, efforts are made to establish and widen strong co-operation with the Centers of Fourth Industrial Revolution Network established in different countries (Turkey, UAE, Israel, Japan).
