An informational session on the "Coursera for Campus" program of the U.S. company "Coursera" was held at the initiative of the Center for the Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IRC), under the Ministry of Economy, and with the support of the Education Development Fund (EDF), under the Ministry of Science and Education. Representatives from the Ministry of Science and Education and local universities participated in the event.
The purpose of the "Coursera for Campus" program is to provide educational institutions with training and instructional support, contributing to students' careers. This initiative includes collaboration with universities, colleges, and relevant government bodies to address strategic challenges. The project focuses on modernizing training programs, improving students' employability and achievements, enhancing digital skills, and promoting lifelong learning.
Within the framework of the "Coursera for Campus" program, students will have the opportunity to complete courses from renowned universities and companies worldwide and obtain certificates. Additionally, Azerbaijani universities may join the "Coursera" platform with their own educational programs in the future.
Fariz Jafarov, Executive Director of the 4IRC, emphasized the significance of the program in promoting the personal development of students in Azerbaijan, as well as contributing to the formation of the Science and Industry 4.0 cluster. Elnur Nasibov, Chairman of the Board of the Education Development Fund (EDF), highlighted the collaboration with Coursera as an important step towards the internationalization of education.
At the event, Andy Pugh, Director of the "Coursera for Campus" program for Europe and the UK, and Akanksha Kapur, Director of Partnerships with Governments at Coursera, delivered a presentation on the topic "Transformation of higher education through generative artificial intelligence and online learning." The presentation covered the impacts of generative artificial intelligence on the education sector and the potential uses of artificial intelligence in education.
At the end of the event, questions from the participants were answered.
