Memorandums on twinning signed between Shamkir-Marneuli, Aghstafa-Gardabani, Goygol-Bolnisi, Dashkasan-Dmanisi were signed
The delegation headed by the Governor of the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia Giorgi Dokhturishvili is on a visit to our country.
First, the Georgian delegation visited the grave of national leader Heydar Aliyev in Alley of Honor and laid a wreath at the monument, honoring his memory. The guests honored the memory of the heroes who martyred for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan on the Alley of Martyrs and laid a wreath at the Eternal Torch monument.
On the same day, a meeting took place between Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and Governor of Kvemo Kartli Giorgi Dokhturishvili.
“Azerbaijan is interested in expanding cooperation with its friend and neighbor Georgia, and relations are developing in an ascending line. Georgia actively participates in regional energy and transport projects implemented at the initiative of Azerbaijan”, the Minister of Economy voiced. Mr. Jabbarov expressed his opinion on the directions of development of trade and economic cooperation, partnership in the field of attracting direct investment, and also drew attention to the potential for strengthening relations in transport and transit, energy, tourism, customs and other areas. It was reported that cooperation between the regions of our countries is also developing, large projects are being implemented by Azerbaijani companies in the Kvemo Kartli region, where our compatriots live compactly in Georgia, and jobs are being created.
The Governor of the Georgian Kvemo Kartli region, Giorgi Dokhturishvili, expressed satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, underlining that our country is a reliable partner, and the projects implemented with the participation of both countries serve peace and stability in the region. Mr. Dokhturishvili emphasized that Georgian companies are interested in participating in projects for the restoration of our liberated territories.
The meeting exchanged views on the development of relations, trade and economic cooperation between the regions of our countries, and the implementation of joint projects.
Then memorandums of understanding on twinning were signed between the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia and the regions of our country (Shamkir-Marneuli, Aghstafa-Gardabani, Goygol-Bolnisi, Dashkasan-Dmanisi). The documents reflect the issues of transport, ICT, culture, tourism, entrepreneurship, urban planning, energy efficiency, youth and sports, waste management and expansion of cooperation in other areas, implementation of joint projects, exchange of experience, etc.
