Within the framework of the cooperation with the private sector, the first small hydroelectric power station is under construction in Lachin’s Malibey village.

As part of the project on the exploitation of 5 small hydroelectric power stations in Kalbajar and Lachin districts, the groundbreaking ceremony of the “Malibey” Small Hydroelectric Power Station has been held.

The electricity supply system meeting the modern requirements is being established in order to boost the infrastructure support in the region. Hydroelectric power stations play a significant role in the green energy supply. The high hydro potential of the rivers in our liberated territories strengthens the efficiency of projects in this field. In this regard, the cooperation with the private sector is of high importance.

It was highlighted that the project on the exploitation of small hydroelectric power stations in Kalbajar and Lachin is another indicator of the Azerbaijan – Türkiye brotherhood. This is the first hydroelectric power station project implemented with the private sector in our liberated territories. The overall cost of the project is 25 million AZN. In 2025, 5 stations with the capacity of 13.8 MW will be fully commissioned. The durability of the stations is 30 years. The execution of the project will create 25 new jobs.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to build "Malibey" Small Hydroelectric Power Station with the capacity of 5.1 MW, "Galacha 2" - 3.4 MW, "Minkend" - 1.8 MW, "Galacha 1" – 1.1 MW, and “Tartar 1” Small Hydroelectric Power Station – 2.4 MW.
