Global "Green Growth Portal" launched in its initial version

The global "Green Growth Portal", developed by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy in collaboration with Harvard University’s Growth Lab, will stimulate the formation of green transition strategies.

The global "Green Growth Portal", developed within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and Harvard University’s Growth Lab and presented during COP29, has been launched in its initial version. The portal, which includes information needed for the global energy transition, will help countries and investors improve their green transition strategies. The interactive tool presents available opportunities for the formation of new industries, new markets, and economic development directions.

The portal covers 10 years of data and strategic perspectives on the green value chain - batteries, essential minerals, power grid, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, heat pumps, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar and wind energy products - for over 140 countries. The "Green Growth Portal" has also been supplemented with an atlas reflecting the connections between green value chain products. Data based on fundamental research will help countries and investors identify and capitalize on the opportunities needed to produce the tools required for decarbonization.

Users will be able to determine via the portal the position of countries in each value chain and their level of economic competitiveness. Additionally, the country's position along the value chain can be determined compared to the expected and international average price of the product. The portal analyzes the country's opportunities to enter green value chains by conducting feasibility studies and assessing the attractiveness of each product. The interactive portal also provides information on the status of existing markets, effective exporters, and growth prospects for products along the green value chain.

Countries and potential investors intending to meet the growing demand for green technologies and act as suppliers in this process will be able to analyze how well the green value chain is compatible with their production capabilities through the portal.

The portal is based on Harvard University’s "Atlas of Economic Complexity," which covers 250 countries and economic regions, as well as 2 million users. The "Green Growth Portal", which will be fully operational in 2025, will be supplemented with analyses, comparative databases, and strategies for "green growth" based on data from international organizations and various countries. The use of the portal is free of charge.
