Issues of cooperation with the World Bank discussed

Potential future activity of the World Bank in Azerbaijan and indicative program of investment projects, preparation of the new Country Partnership Framework of the World Bank Group for Azerbaijan for 2023-2028 were discussed.

 

Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Rolande Pryce, the new World Bank Group Country Manager for the South Caucasus. The Minister of Economy congratulated Mrs. Pryce and the country manager of the World Bank for Azerbaijan, Stefanie Stallmeister, on their new positions and wished them success in their activities.

The Minister of Economy mentioned that Azerbaijan has successfully cooperated with the World Bank, and the technical assistance and financial support projects provided by the Bank are highly appreciated in our country. The minister noted that our relations with the World Bank are multifaceted. Cooperation with the bank in private sector diagnostics, innovations, digital development, development of management technologies and other areas is of particular importance in Azerbaijan in terms of applying international best practices, bringing modern technology and innovations to our country.

The priorities of Azerbaijan's economy, including economic diversification, development of the non-oil sector, measures implemented in the direction of investment promotion and continuous improvement of the business environment, and the achieved results were reported at the meeting.

Rolande Pryce expressed his confidence that the Bank will continue close cooperation with the government of Azerbaijan in order to achieve the strategic development goals of our country, and shared his views on the new directions of partnership.

The parties also discussed the future activities of the World Bank in Azerbaijan and the indicative program of investment projects, as well as the next steps in the preparation of the new Country Partnership Framework of the World Bank Group in Azerbaijan for 2023-2028.
