It has been 11 years since the establishment of Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park (SCIP). This is the first Industrial Park established in Azerbaijan.
The Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park under Ministry of Economic Development was established by the Decree №548 of the President of Azerbaijan Republic on December 21, 2011. The main purpose of SCIP establishment is to ensure necessary enviroment for development of industrial production on the base of competitive and innovative high technology. Also SCIP aims to promote and support entrepreneurship and stable development of non-oil sector in the country and to increase occupancy of manpower recourses in production sphere.
When the Industrial Park was created, it occupied an area of about 168 hectares. Currently, the territory of the park is 583.5 hectares.
32 businesses with a total investment in the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park of more than AZN 5.6 billion were granted residency status, 20 of them are active.
At the moment, AZN5.1 billion has been invested by the residents of the industrial park. More than 6,000 permanent jobs have been created in the Industrial Park.
In the next phase of existing projects, more than AZN 300 million will be invested in industrial zones and more than 2000 new jobs will be created.
During the 9 months of the current year, with the production of AZN 2 billion, the weight of the Industrial Park in the non-oil sector of the country's industry was 15.4%, and the weight in the export of non-oil industry products was 31.4%.
In total (until October 2022), the residents of the Industrial Park produced AZN 6.66 billion products, of which AZN 2.44 billion were exported.
