Heydar Aliyev was attended in Baku by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov and the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov.
The delegation of Tatarstan visited the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Fakhri Khiyaban and laid a wreath in front of the monument, commemorating his memory with respect. The memory of the prominent ophthalmologist-scientist academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also honored, flowers were laid on her grave. The guests commemorated the heroes who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan in Martyrs' Alley and laid a wreath in front of the "Eternal Torch" monument.
Making a speech at the opening of the "Sabantuy 2023" event, Rustam Minnikhanov, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted that holding the Sabantuy holiday in many countries where Tatars live, as well as in Azerbaijan, strengthens the bonds of friendship and cooperation between peoples. It was emphasized that for centuries ethnic Tatars and Azerbaijanis have maintained close, fraternal relations based on common values, religious and cultural roots. Tatars live comfortably in Azerbaijan, and our states, in its turn, attach great importance to the development of bilateral relations in various directions based on these close ties between our peoples.
The Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov noted the invaluable services of the great leader Heydar Aliyev and Mintimer Shaimiev, the first President of Tatarstan, in the development of Azerbaijan-Tatar cooperation. The minister stated that the favorable investment environment created in Azerbaijan promises wide prospects for foreign investors, including Tatarstan entrepreneurs. Russian companies are also actively involved in the restoration of our territories liberated from occupation. The opening of "Auto Leasing Azerbaijan" LLC in the "Araz Valley Economic Zone" Industrial Park with the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov is one of the indicators of our partnership.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu noted the common values of our peoples and pointed out that joint events contribute to the cooperation development.
Thematic areas dedicated to the national leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as prominent people of Tatarstan and national and moral values were organized within the framework of the event. The event, in which state and cultural figures of both republics were awarded with the state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan, continued with a literary and musical program.
Note: "Sabantuy", associated with agricultural traditions and agrarian culture, is a holiday celebrated on the occasion of the end of harvest in the fields.
