On September 9, 2022, Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) hosted the opening of the hackathon competition "Energy and Fourth Industrial Revolution", with joint organization of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR).
The purpose of the hackathon, held on the topics "Energy and the Internet of Things", "Energy and Artificial Intelligence", "Energy and the Digital Economy", serves supporting innovative ideas on the application of green and digital energy technologies, expanding the use of renewable energies and strengthening energy security in Azerbaijan, especially in the economic regions of East Zangazur and Garabagh.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov expressed his satisfaction that such an important event was hosted by the Higher School. The Rector voiced that the hackathon is significant in terms of demonstrating the talents, knowledge and skills of young people who are distinguished by their innovative approaches, and wished every success to the participants.
In his speech, SOCAR Vice President Zaur Gurbanov stressed that Azerbaijan, as well as Garabagh and East Zangazur, is reach in renewable energy potential. As reported, the transformation of the liberated territories into green energy zones is an integral part of the modern development strategy defined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the hackathon is also held to support the implementation of the tasks set in this direction.
C4IR Executive Director Tamerlan Taghiyev stressed that the hackathon contributed to the development of the innovation ecosystem in our country by enhancing digital knowledge and skills and strengthening the training of highly qualified personnel that meet modern requirements.
