Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Sebastian Molineus, World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus.
The Minister of Economy stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the World Bank, and the technical assistance and financial support provided by the Bank to our country is highly appreciated. It was noted that joint projects were carried out with the Bank on ensuring sustainable economic development in our country, expanding entrepreneurial activity, increasing investments and other areas, and analytical documents were developed.
Information was provided at the meeting on measures implemented in the direction of economic diversification, development of the non-oil sector, investment promotion and continuous improvement of the business environment, and the results achieved. It was emphasized that special importance is attached to sustainable economic growth and the application of "green" and "smart" concepts within the framework of "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-economic development". Improvement of management in the public sector and transformation to a new quality, positive quality changes in the ecosystem, sustainable development of business, human capital, creation of fertile conditions for wide application of digital economy and innovations and others are defined as main goals in the Strategy for socio-economic development for the years 2022-2026, implemented according to the strategic directions defined in the National Priorities.
Sebastian Molineus, World Bank Regional director for the South Caucasus, said that the Bank continues to work closely with the government of Azerbaijan in order to achieve the strategic development goals of our country, and shared his views on new directions of partnership.
The parties discussed issues and possible drafts of the agenda of cooperation with the World Bank.
