Discussions held with Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

The future priorities of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Azerbaijan, the possibilities of implementing "green energy" and infrastructure development projects in our country with the Bank's support were discussed.

 

First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev met with Vice President of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Konstantin Limitovsky.

The first deputy minister pointed out that Azerbaijan has been cooperating with the Bank since 2016 and that our country attaches importance to this partnership. He emphasized the importance of AIDB's activity in the direction of ensuring a "green" and sustainable future, as well as its support to member countries in building a strong economy. Mr. Elnur Aliyev shared his views on cooperation with the Bank within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor project, Baku International Sea Trade Port, railway infrastructure and other transport-transit and logistics projects.

AIDB's vice-president for investment operations, Konstantin Limitovski, drew attention to the measures implemented by his institution in the direction of stimulating economic growth and infrastructure development in the Asian region, noted the effective cooperation of the Bank with Azerbaijan, and shared his views on the possibilities of partnership development.

The parties discussed at the meeting the main directions of potential cooperation, the future priorities of AIDB in Azerbaijan, including perspective projects on "green energy" and infrastructure development.

Our country has been a member of the Bank since June 24, 2016. The bank mainly finances projects related to the stimulation of economic growth and infrastructure in the Asian region. The development of agriculture and infrastructure, energy supply, environmental protection, transport and telecommunications, water supply and sanitation, urban planning and creation of logistics centers are the priority areas of the Bank's activity.
