An event was held on August 31, 2023, on the occasion of the first gas supply from the "Absheron" gas-condensate field.
Making a speech at the event, Chairman of SOCAR's Supervisory Board, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov pointed out that the start of production in the Absheron gas-condensate field located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is of great importance for our country and the companies participating in the project.
Noting that 2023 was declared the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Minister of Economy emphasized that the first gas supply from the "Absheron" gas-condensate field will be realized in this year, which is significant for Azerbaijan. It was mentioned that the work on the second stage of development of "Absheron" gas-condensate field is intensively continued.
Mikayil Jabbarov stated at the event that Azerbaijan's successful cooperation in the field of energy has made our country a reliable partner on an international scale. Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SOCAR, reminded that a signing ceremony was held on August 4 of this year between SOCAR, "TotalEnergies" and ADNOC companies regarding the sale of a 30% stake in the "Absheron" gas-condensate field and noted that this document is another manifestation of the favorable investment environment created in Azerbaijan.
Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a speech and emphasized that the launch of "Absheron" with high production is of strategic importance at a time when the importance of gas supply sources in the world is determined based on the security factor, the role of Azerbaijan as a reliable energy supplier is strengthened and the demand for our country's energy resources is increasing. The minister pointed out that this is a clear indicator of the richness of Azerbaijan's energy resources and the sustainability of the energy supplier mission, he also mentioned that energy markets are a reliable guarantee of uninterrupted energy supply to consumers and the stability of oil-condensate production in our country. Parviz Shahbazov noted that "Absheron" field will diversify the sources of gas production and consumption in our country and will be an important source of additional gas supply to Europe.
The president of SOCAR Rovshan Najaf talked in his speech about the historical development path of "Absheron" gas-condensate field and the important steps taken together with international partners over the past years. The president of SOCAR emphasized that the "Absheron" gas-condensate field will make a valuable contribution to increasing the production potential of our country and strengthening its international position.

Expressing his satisfaction with the production start of the Absheron gas-condensate field in the IHS phase, Patrick Puyane, CEO of TotalEnergies, pointed out that cooperation with SOCAR and ADNOC, which has just joined the project, will be further strengthened. He spoke about the work done on the next stage of development of "Absheron" gas-condensate field together with partner companies. Patrick Pouyane pointed out that natural gas is the cleanest fuel among hydrocarbons and stated that the "Absheron" project fully complies with the commitment of "TotalEnergies" to transition to low-carbon energy.
Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Executive Director for Low Carbon Solutions and International Growth of ADNOC, expressed his satisfaction at the event dedicated to the production of the first gas from the Absheron field which is another important stage in the strategic relations and energy partnership between the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan together with SOCAR and TotalEnergies. The CEO pointed out that based on ADNOC's tradition and decades of rich experience in the field of low-carbon energy production, they look forward to playing an important role in this strategically important project.
