Delegation of Azerbaijan on a visit to China

Joint cooperation under China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative, "green energy" and perspective projects on infrastructure development were discussed during the meetings held within the framework of the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to the People's Republic of China (PRC) headed by the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.

 

A number of meetings were held within the framework of the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to the People's Republic of China (PRC) headed by the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.

Satisfaction was expressed with the development of relations between the two countries in various directions, perspectives of expanding cooperation in economic-commercial, energy, transport-transit, investment, information-communication technologies, humanitarian, tourism and other fields were considered in the meeting with the Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China, Zheng Shanjie.

It was noted that the political will and friendship of the heads of state, President Ilham Aliyev and President Xi Jinping, are the main driving force in the development of bilateral cooperation. The high-level relations established between the two countries create ample opportunities for strengthening our economic partnership.

Information was provided at the meeting on the work done in our country in the field of sustainable development, and it was emphasized that special importance is given to sustainable economic growth within the framework of "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development", as well as the application of "green" and "smart" concepts in the reintegration works carried out in our liberated territories. It was stated that transformation of the public sector to a new quality, improvement of ecosystem quality, sustainable development of business and human capital, creation of fertile conditions for wide application of digital economy and innovations are among the main goals in the Strategy for socio-economic development for the years 2022-2026, implemented according to the strategic directions defined in the National Priorities. All this creates fertile conditions for intensifying cooperation with international partners, including China.

During the meeting held in Samarkand within the framework of the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the parties discussed the work done in the direction of the implementation of the important agreements reached by the heads of state of both countries.

In addition, the current state of investment relations between Azerbaijan and China, as well as the potential projects that can be implemented to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the mentioned field, were exchanged and Azerbaijan's active position in joining China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative, opportunities for future cooperation in order to effectively use the Middle Corridor were analyzed.

The "Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China on the strengthening of production forces and investment cooperation" was signed at the meeting. The document was signed by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov from Azerbaijan, and Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China Zheng Shanjie from China. Cooperation between the two countries in various fields of the economy, as well as knowledge-based industry and innovation, including the application of 4SI technologies, is envisaged according to the Framework Agreement.

The successful cooperation of our country with the Bank since 2016 and the importance of this partnership was emphasized in a meeting with Jin Liqun, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The bank's activities in the direction of ensuring a "green" and sustainable future, as well as the importance of supporting member countries in building a strong economy, were noted. It was emphasized that the joint projects implemented with the Bank make an important contribution to the transformation of Azerbaijan, a reliable energy provider, into a regional hub.

Ideas were exchanged with the bank on possible cooperation on the Southern Gas Corridor project, Baku International Sea Trade Port, railway infrastructure, shipbuilding and other transport-transit and logistics projects, as well as the Azerbaijan segment of the Middle Corridor.

The main directions of potential cooperation, the future priorities of AIDB in Azerbaijan, including perspective projects on "green energy" and infrastructure development were discussed at the meeting.
